Overview
A division within a major university specializing in language development and assessment tools for multilingual learners is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Contracts and Finance department. This role supports the responsible management of financial resources through data collection, analysis, monitoring, and forecasting. The position reports to the Finance Manager and serves as a key contact for department leadership on contracts and finance matters.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data using statistical analysis, simulations, and predictive modeling to develop business solutions
- Develop, maintain, and monitor automated financial information systems and budgets
- Provide clear and timely financial updates and reports to leadership
- Create and implement financial processes, including training materials and improvement recommendations
- Prepare detailed financial reports, spreadsheets, and schedules
- Process general ledger entries in compliance with GAAP, perform reconciliations, and analyze complex accounts
- Collaborate with departments to ensure compliance with university and financial policies
- Support procurement activities and invoice processing
- Act as a subject matter expert on finance for cross-departmental projects
- Stay current on relevant financial policies, procedures, and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Minimum of 1 year experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting
- Proficiency in data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting techniques
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and report development
- Effective oral and written communication skills for presenting financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong problem-solving and issue resolution abilities
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to learn and adapt to new financial systems and tools
