Overview

This is a Financial Analyst, FP&A role focused on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis across business functions. The position supports the Strategic Finance Manager by managing recurring FP&A processes, developing financial models, analyzing budget variances, and translating operational performance into reliable financial information for management decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring financial analyses and reports to support financial planning, business performance monitoring, and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain financial models that translate business assumptions, operational drivers, and strategic plans into financial forecasts.
  • Analyze actual results versus budgets and forecasts; identify material variances and explain underlying financial and operational drivers.
  • Support the financial close process by preparing source materials and coordinating accurate, timely accruals with cross-functional partners.
  • Evaluate relationships between operational KPIs, revenue and expense drivers, and the three primary financial statements.
  • Partner with Operations and other business functions to gather financial inputs, validate assumptions, and communicate performance insights.
  • Provide the Strategic Finance Manager with recurring financial analysis, planning support, reporting, and information needed for strategic financial decisions.
  • Build, improve, and automate recurring financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Explore and apply AI tools, FP&A software, and other automation solutions to streamline financial analysis and reporting.
  • Communicate financial results, forecast changes, and variance explanations to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support operational planning and business decisions.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in financial analysis, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, or a related analytical role.
  • Practical experience developing financial forecasts, performing variance analysis, and working with financial models.
  • Direct experience with finance-focused analytical work rather than exclusively general operational responsibilities.

Required Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to independently build financial forecasts and variance analyses from scratch.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities and understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Solid knowledge of the three primary financial statements and the financial and operational factors that influence them.
  • Ability to connect operational KPIs and business performance metrics to financial statement line items.
  • Ability to analyze financial performance, identify variances, and explain the financial drivers behind changes in results.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with Operations and other cross-functional partners on financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Methodical, detail-oriented approach to recurring financial processes, including forecast preparation, reporting accuracy, and financial analysis.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code or Codex to automate finance-specific workflows or improve analytical productivity.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization platforms, including Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis software such as Vena, Pigment, DataRails, or Cube.
  • Exposure to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, particularly NetSuite.
  • For candidates with an accounting background, auditing experience is preferred over ERP implementation experience.
  • Experience in consumer products, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or direct-to-consumer (DTC) businesses.
  • Willingness to support ad hoc financial analysis beyond recurring FP&A responsibilities when needed.
