Overview
A rapidly growing direct-to-consumer (DTC) supplement brand has increased its monthly revenue from $10 million to $17 million over the past year and continues to expand. The finance function has not yet scaled to match this growth, creating an opportunity to build and lead the finance operations from the ground up. This role offers significant ownership and a clear path to a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position.
This is a fully remote, full-time position aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST) working hours.
Responsibilities
- Own the entire accounting cycle, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Build and maintain monthly profit and loss statements (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow statements, progressing toward weekly and eventually daily reporting
- Conduct margin analysis by SKU, offer, and channel to provide leadership with detailed profitability insights
- Manage 13-week cash flow forecasting and daily cash management
- Reconcile inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and payment processors such as Adyen, Stripe, PayPal, and Shopify Payments
- Oversee accounts payable, review invoices for accuracy, and coordinate sales tax filings and compliance
- Develop channel-level P&Ls across DTC, Amazon, and TikTok Shop
- Manage and direct a virtual assistant supporting accounts payable and reporting functions
- Collaborate directly with the founders daily, assuming responsibilities currently divided between outsourced bookkeeping and fractional CFO support
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting or controller experience, preferably within DTC, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or eCommerce sectors
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and inventory accounting
- Experience working with companies generating $50 million or more in annual revenue
- Proven ability to independently manage the full accounting cycle without a supporting team
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, QuickBooks, and Ramp or similar financial tools
- Capability to build P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements from scratch
- Experience working with U.S.-based companies and comfort operating on EST hours
- Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, flat organizational structure led by founders
