Overview
The organization is seeking a Revenue Accounting Lead to serve as a senior individual contributor on the Revenue Accounting & Operations team. This role supports complex and non-standard revenue arrangements and leads the operationalization of new monetization models, with a focus on ASC 606 technical revenue accounting and scalable revenue accounting operations.
Responsibilities
- Own technical revenue accounting for complex and non-standard arrangements across customers, strategic partnerships, and marketplaces, including ASC 606 assessments of pricing, variable consideration, contract modifications, and evolving commercial terms.
- Partner with Sales, Partnerships, Legal, Product, and Finance before deals and initiatives are finalized—providing practical accounting guidance and helping shape commercial structures while addressing accounting and operational requirements.
- Lead accounting operationalization of new arrangements and monetization models by translating contractual and product economics into billing, revenue recognition, reporting, data, and control requirements; drive cross-functional implementation, including when existing systems do not natively support the terms.
- Own ongoing accounting for assigned complex arrangements, including recurring calculations and estimates, monitoring contractual and delivery variables, assessing amendments and other changes, resolving issues, and ensuring accurate accounting through close and financial reporting.
- Support the broader revenue close, reporting, and control environment, including review of analyses and workpapers, account reconciliations, disclosures, internal controls, and external audit matters within areas of responsibility.
- Develop and lead process, system, automation, and AI-enabled improvements to reduce manual effort and operational risk, strengthen controls, and make complex revenue accounting more scalable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience, ideally within SaaS, cloud, AI, infrastructure, or another technology business with complex usage-based and enterprise arrangements.
- Strong technical knowledge of ASC 606 and the ability to independently evaluate complex and non-standard contracts, including modifications, variable consideration, and evolving pricing or commercial structures.
- Proven ability to partner with and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Sales, Partnerships, Legal, Product, Billing, Engineering, and Finance—balancing commercial responsiveness with sound accounting judgment.
- Experience translating technical accounting conclusions into operational execution, including scalable processes, controls, system requirements, and recurring accounting procedures.
- Experience with revenue operations and supporting systems, including billing, order-to-cash, ERP/revenue platforms (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite or RMCS), data analysis, automation, and control design.
- Strong ownership, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to navigate ambiguity, clearly articulate technical conclusions, lead cross-functional initiatives, and appropriately escalate high-risk matters.
