Senior Accountant (Finance Federal Grants) - 100% REMOTE

Overview

This role analyzes and reviews financial data and prepares financial statements and reports using advanced accounting concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, and terminology. Work is performed independently, while ensuring applicable regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and recommend improvements in accounting system procedures to ensure accurate application of accounting principles.
• Analyze, review, and present information and summary reports.
• Approve and verify transactions; reconcile highly complex transactions and accounts.
• Prepare complex journal and closing entries as well as general ledger accounts.
• Format, design, and prepare moderate to complex financial reports and schedules.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Technical Capabilities

• Accounting Reporting (Advanced): Knowledge of general financial accounting practices and principles, including the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and develop comprehensive reports.
• Regulatory Compliance (Advanced): Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations and the ability to interpret and apply them in difficult or complex situations, including explaining ambiguous or unclear requirements; ability to direct others and train others in interpreting regulations.
• Problem Solving (Advanced): Uses critical thinking and process improvement, including coaching/mentoring in developing problem statements, describing current state, identifying root causes, creating future state, and coaching/mentoring solution and action-plan development with a sustainability plan; applies appropriate tools to address issues.
• Communication (Intermediate): Clearly, effectively, and respectfully communicates with employees or customers.
• Peer Leadership (Novice): Demonstrates leadership and influence among peers of equal rank to help accomplish team goals.
