The position leads complex initiatives with limited direction, strengthens internal controls, improves data quality, supports user adoption, and ensures finance systems and processes deliver measurable business value.

Responsibilities

Finance Process Transformation

  • Lead the assessment, design, optimization, and standardization of end-to-end finance processes across Accounts Payable, Procurement, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Accounting, FP&A, reporting, and related finance operations.
  • Facilitate current-state and future-state process design sessions with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, manual workarounds, reporting issues, and automation opportunities.
  • Ensure process and system changes support strong internal controls, data integrity, audit readiness, and appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Partner with Finance leaders to identify control gaps, assess operational risks, and recommend practical improvements that strengthen compliance and accountability.
  • Develop recommendations to improve efficiency, scalability, data quality, user experience, controls, and finance decision support.

Business Analysis & Solution Design

  • Lead structured discovery sessions to gather, clarify, and prioritize business requirements from Finance leaders, process owners, end users, IT partners, vendors, and implementation teams.
  • Document business requirements, functional specifications, process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, decision logs, issue logs, test scenarios, and implementation dependencies.
  • Translate ambiguous finance needs into clear, actionable requirements and solution recommendations that can be understood and executed by IT, vendors, consultants, and business stakeholders.
  • Maintain traceability from business requirements through solution design, testing, implementation, and post-go-live validation.

Finance Systems, Data & Reporting Enablement

  • Serve as a primary Finance liaison and business-side subject matter expert for finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, integrations, data structures, and enhancement requests.
  • Lead or support implementations, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, production issue resolution, reporting improvements, and release testing across finance-related platforms.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to support solution design, issue resolution, testing, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization.
  • Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure solutions meet business and reporting requirements.
  • Promote data governance, reporting consistency, data integrity, and effective use of finance and operational data across systems.
  • Partner with Finance leaders and business stakeholders to define metrics, reporting requirements, dashboards, KPIs, and recurring reporting needs.
  • Validate data across systems, investigate reporting discrepancies, and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy, transparency, and decision support.

Project Delivery, Vendor Coordination & Change Management

  • Lead or support cross-functional finance transformation projects, including defining scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, success measures, and stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to manage deliverables, open items, timelines, testing, issue resolution, solution design decisions, and post-implementation stabilization.
  • Develop and support change management plans, training materials, job aids, user communications, readiness activities, and post-go-live adoption support.
  • Communicate project updates, risks, recommendations, business cases, decisions, and outcomes to Finance leadership, IT partners, business stakeholders, and senior leaders.
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and influence decisions without direct authority.

Controls, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure process and system changes support appropriate internal controls, approval workflows, audit evidence, role-based access, segregation of duties, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Accounting, Internal Audit, Compliance, IT, and Finance leaders to identify risks, strengthen controls, and support audit readiness.
  • Monitor process performance, gather stakeholder feedback, and identify opportunities for ongoing standardization, automation, and operational improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping, documentation, testing, stakeholder facilitation, and solution design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience working with finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, data validation, and cross-system reporting.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, influence stakeholders, communicate with senior leaders, and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
