Overview

This role is responsible for owning the economic model for a third-party fulfillment network and the measurement layer that validates whether the economics are holding.

You will build the cost-to-serve model behind each partner agreement, derive and validate the rate cards the organization contracts on, and maintain a benchmarked shadow P&L for each partner. You will also own the partner reporting that translates contractual commitments into measurable metrics.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Network Development, and works closely with SFN Operations, Pricing, Legal, and the Data team.

Responsibilities

Cost-to-Serve Modeling

  • Build and own the cost-to-serve model for SFN partner operations, including labor, equipment, occupancy, and overhead by activity at the site level.
  • Model the economics of proposed commercial terms before agreement so the rate card performance is understood for both parties at expected volumes.
  • Run scenario and sensitivity analyses on key variables and document which assumptions drive conclusions.
  • Model the economics of network decisions such as new sites, consolidations, and inventory moves, and quantify trade-offs.
  • Establish standard cost and variance analysis across the network to identify how much actual cost diverges from standard and why.
  • Model payback on capital investments using cost of capital, IRR, and associated throughput metrics to support recommendations.

Partner Performance & Agreement Validation

  • Serve as a validation gate for new agreements: confirm that obligations are measurable and enforceable, and that terms are economically viable and fair for both parties.
  • Keep contractual obligations and reporting aligned as agreements evolve so each new term has corresponding instrumentation.
  • Design and own partner-facing performance reporting, including publication scope, audience, level of detail, and cadence.
  • Specify product requirements for the publication mechanism and partner with Product and Engineering to deliver.
  • Build analytics that reveal systemic insight across the network, including productivity benchmarking by region and product profile, emerging risk patterns, and structural versus situational performance variance.

Shadow P&L Ownership

  • Build and own partner shadow P&L, benchmarking partner productivity and cost against comparables and flagging deteriorating economics early with quantified drivers.
  • Define the financial and productivity insight shared with partners to support rate reviews, cost model validation, and negotiations using partner-level analysis.

Mechanisms & Escalation

  • Own the performance escalation framework with SFN Operations, including thresholds, owners, and touchpoint sequence.
  • Automate escalation so issues reach the right level without manual intervention.
  • Provide performance and financial inputs for Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in operational finance, costing and pricing work, plant or site controllership, FP&A, or commercial finance, within manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, or a comparable operating environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building economic and cost-to-serve models from first principles.
  • Working understanding of fulfillment or warehouse operations and cost drivers such as labor productivity, equipment utilization, occupancy, throughput, and mix; able to analyze where cost sits within operations.
  • Comfort working with cost and industrial engineers on design engineering.
  • Excellent financial literacy, including building a P&L view, understanding cost structure and margin drivers, and making defensible judgments on whether a commercial arrangement is working.
  • Fluency with data at scale; SQL is expected, and experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read commercial agreements and translate obligations into measurable terms; prior exposure to contracts, service levels, or commercial terms is a significant advantage.
  • Experience specifying requirements to product and engineering teams and seeing builds through to delivery.
  • Ability to influence and drive accountability across functions without direct authority, including with senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional rigor—numbers delivered to partners and leadership must be correct, and this role serves as a final line of defense.
  • Solid written and verbal communication; able to explain analytical conclusions to a commercial audience and commercial constraints to an engineering audience.
  • Comfort with ambiguity; much of what this role will own does not exist yet.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program or project management experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target salary range: $99,150 - $132,200.
  • Full base pay range for this position: $99,150 - $165,250.
  • Opportunity to be eligible for participation in the organization’s discretionary bonus plan based on the organization’s plans and in accordance with organizational policies.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Basic Life Insurance
  • Paid Maternity/Parental Leave Program
  • Paid Holidays & Flexible Time Off Program
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • Wellness Days (1 day/quarter)
  • 401K Match
