Overview

This position involves participating in all testing efforts of the financial ERP system, including PeopleSoft tools and images updates, disaster recovery, operating system upgrades, report repository upgrades, and Quality Center version updates. The role also supports state organizations in developing test plans related to interface files between legacy systems and the financial ERP system. The ideal candidate will have both system and functional accounting expertise and a strong understanding of financial ERP system structure and relational database features. Experience executing tests in a financial accounting system is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, direction, and recommendations to state agencies, organizations, vendors, or others in assigned fiscal oversight functions.
  • Review, analyze, reconcile, and/or approve financial transactions, system processes, reports, or other financial data within integrated financial information systems.
  • Interpret, explain, and ensure compliance with state and federal laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
  • Research, collect, analyze, and interpret various data and reports; clarify information; troubleshoot discrepancies, errors, unexpected results, or process flaws.
  • Make determinations and define solutions to maintain data integrity and security, including updates, corrections, reclassifications, adjustments, or changes to user access.
  • Run queries and prepare, analyze, and distribute a variety of reports.
  • Participate in analyzing state accounting services, automated financial information systems, or software applications to determine functional and technical requirements and ensure business and user needs are met.
  • Conduct special assignments and projects such as system testing, upgrades, updates, enhancements, statewide reporting, or compliance work.
  • Recommend changes to processes, procedures, and forms to improve efficiency and internal controls.
  • Use automated information systems and computer software to research, review, analyze, document, and report on financial information.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers and the public through various communication methods.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with diverse populations across cultures, abilities, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races.
  • Maintain, review, verify, and update system tables and configurations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and business needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience analyzing financial data to provide guidance and consultation to customers, managers, or others.
  • Two years of experience compiling, analyzing, and reporting on financial data to ensure effective and efficient accounting of funds or to make projections for financial planning.
  • One year of experience ensuring compliance with accounting or payroll laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • One year of experience making recommendations for changes or improvements to financial processes, procedures, forms, or automated information systems.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, reference checks, and confirmation of compliance with federal and state tax laws.

  • This position is eligible for telework and alternative work schedules according to the organization's Alternative Work Arrangement Policy. Remote work and flexible schedules may be offered where appropriate and will be discussed during the interview.
  • New hires are required to attend a statewide new employee orientation on their first day at designated locations.
