The organization is hiring a Tax Product Specialist. This position involves delivering technical product education, running demos, and owning onboarding outcomes for tax firms using the product.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a technical demo on customer calls, explaining what the product does and why it solves the customer’s problem.
- Lead group onboarding for 5 to 10 firms at a time, from kickoff through the point where each firm is running real work through the product.
- Own the relationship during the 8-week period that determines whether a firm succeeds or churns.
- Manage a feedback loop back into product by capturing friction customers experience and ensuring it gets fixed rather than repeated.
- Run technical demos alongside sales for firms that need a tax professional in the room.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for onboarding, supported by customer support.
- Teach customers through webinars, training sessions, and ongoing enablement work.
- Translate between customer feedback and engineering needs so what you hear on calls turns into what gets built.
- Maintain deep product knowledge and help ensure outputs would pass a reviewer (including catching issues that would not pass).
Requirements
- Experience preparing or reviewing real returns inside a real firm (credentials welcome but not required).
- Strong capability in either individual returns (1040) or business returns (1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990, 1041). Either option is sufficient; strength in both is a plus.
- Ability to confidently present to customers (including demos, training, difficult conversations, and escalations).
- High confidence using tax platforms, including at least one of: CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, ProConnect, Drake, or GoSystem. Expertise across all platforms is not required.
- Ability to learn software quickly, including new workflows and integration conversations.
- Bonus (preferred): experience through SurePrep, GruntWorx, or AutoFlow implementations, or rolling new software out across a firm.
Preferred Qualifications (Soft Skills)
- Comfortable working with incomplete data and making calls when not everything is known.
- Empathetic and curious—focused on building for the user, not only producing technically correct answers.
- Highly collaborative across product, engineering, and tax.
- Detail-oriented with practical judgment about when precision matters.
- Strong ownership mindset and willingness to take accountability.
