Overview

This role involves working closely with accounting firms during onboarding and customer calls to ensure they transition from signed to genuinely operational with the organization’s tax technology.

Expect a high-paced, high-tempo environment with strong accountability and frequent direct interaction with professional users. The work is time-sensitive around seasonal tax periods, with December and January described as especially demanding.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical demos on customer calls, explaining what the product does and how it addresses the customer’s real tax workflow.
  • Onboard groups of 5 to 10 firms at a time, from kickoff through the point where the firm is running real work using the product without the specialist present.
  • Own the 8-week onboarding relationship where firm success or churn is determined.
  • Provide a feedback loop back into product, ensuring friction observed with firms is addressed rather than repeated.
  • Run the technical demo alongside sales for firms that need a tax professional in the room.
  • Serve as the point person for onboarding firms until they are “genuinely winning,” supported by customer support.
  • Teach and support training efforts including webinars and training sessions, plus ongoing enablement work.
  • Translate between firms and engineering so insights from calls and outcomes inform what gets built.
  • Maintain product expertise sufficient to be trusted on it, including catching output that would not pass a reviewer.

Requirements

  • Prepared or reviewed real returns inside a real firm; credentials are welcome but not required.
  • Demonstrated strength in tax preparation for at least one of the following:
    • Individual returns (1040)
    • Business returns (1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990, 1041)
    • Strength in both is a plus, but one is enough.
  • Comfortable delivering demos and training in front of customers.
  • Experience working with major tax platforms; confidence in at least a few is required, such as:
    • CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, ProConnect, Drake, or GoSystem
  • Ability to learn new software quickly, including workflows and integrations.
  • Bonus: experience through SurePrep, GruntWorx, or AutoFlow implementations, or rolling out new software across a firm.

Preferred Qualifications (Soft Skills)

  • Comfortable working with incomplete data and making calls with imperfect information.
  • Empathetic and curious—focused on building for the user, not only producing technically correct answers.
  • Highly collaborative across product, engineering, and tax.
  • Detail-oriented but pragmatic—knows when precision matters and when to move.
  • Takes ownership of work and welcomes accountability.

Additional Notes
