Overview
The organization is seeking an accomplished leader to own the global Accounting and Treasury function within Finance. This role will serve as the primary accounting partner to the C-suite as the business scales internationally and prepares for an IPO.
This position requires a senior leader experienced in building, developing, and implementing financial systems, reporting, planning, cash management, and accounting policy. You will lead the build-out of a scalable accounting team for a rapidly growing, complex, data-intensive operating business, while also preparing the financial systems and processes for IPO.
Responsibilities
Close, Reporting, and Consolidation
- Own end-to-end financial reporting: close, consolidation, and account reconciliation.
- Move the monthly close from ~7+ days to 3–4 days.
- Lead the shift from annual to quarterly reporting.
- Deliver consistent quarterly closes and financial statements, including SEC-ready disclosures such as segments and EPS.
- Set and enforce close standards, clearly communicate issues and close status, and maintain a high bar across the team.
- Push accounting upstream by partnering with People, Ops, and FP&A to ensure data is correct in source systems before close starts (HRIS/payroll, billing, procurement).
IPO Readiness, Controls, and Audit
- Own the relationship with the Big 4 auditor.
- Lead SOX readiness, including control gap assessment, remediation, segregation of duties, and access and change-management controls across financial systems.
- Write and maintain formal accounting policies and technical accounting memos, including:
- Revenue recognition
- Leases under ASC 842
- Stock comp
- Complex instruments
- Purchase price allocations
Global and International
- Serve as the primary accounting stakeholder for international expansion, growing from a handful of entities to many more across Europe, LATAM and APAC.
- Partner with Tax on transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, VAT and indirect tax, and a quarterly tax provision.
- Simplify intercompany processes and build a consolidation model that allows new entities to fit into the existing process without requiring a new one each time.
- Support global treasury and banking, including international banking partners and multi-currency AP and payments.
Manufacturing and Cost Accounting
- Partner with Operations and FP&A on cost accounting for labs, including:
- Inventory
- Cost cards
- Labor allocation
- Fixed assets behind the scanner fleet and manufacturing equipment
- Ensure cost and margin data is accurate enough for leadership to make capital allocation and gross margin decisions.
Systems, FinOps, and Automation
- Own the accounting systems roadmap centered on NetSuite, including integrations with billing, Stripe, Avalara, the HRIS/payroll system, procure-to-pay, and fixed asset and lease tools.
- Replace manual, spreadsheet-based processes with automated, auditable ones, and leverage AI tools.
- Partner with Business Systems on ITGCs, data governance, and finance system administration.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a global team across the US and LATAM, including accounting, AP, AR/billing, payroll, treasury, and international.
- Design the target organization over time and build key public-company functions, including:
- Technical accounting and SEC reporting
- Internal controls/SOX
- FinOps
- Collaborate across Finance to ensure information flows quickly and accurately between Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and Treasury.
Requirements
- 12+ years of accounting experience, including senior accounting leadership at a high-growth, operationally complex company.
- Big 4 audit background.
- Hands-on experience preparing a company for IPO readiness or operating as a public company, including SOX, SEC reporting, and quarterly close.
- Ideally experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, or hardware-plus-services business, including inventory and cost accounting.
- Track record of building scalable accounting systems and processes (not only technical accounting).
- Multi-entity, international consolidation experience, including transfer pricing, intercompany, and FX.
- Visible, accountable leadership; ability to own problems openly and lead the team through hard closes.
- Integrity and a practical, solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; ability to build trust with executives, auditors, and peers at every level.
- Willingness to learn adjacent areas such as FP&A, Tax, People systems, and Operations.
- Strong prioritization and project management in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort in an innovative, disruptive culture.
- Tools: expert in NetSuite and Excel/Google Sheets; comfortable using AI to automate work.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA and/or advanced degree.
- Experience at a tech or high-growth company, especially one combining manufacturing or hardware with software.
- Experience implementing or remediating ERP, procure-to-pay, or HRIS systems.
- Experience with purchase price allocations and integrating acquisitions.
