Accounting Manager, CPG

Overview

This role involves managing the month-end close process and consulting with clients on accounting and financial reporting. The team is embedded as an extension of clients’ in-house finance function, with responsibilities spanning monthly financial packets, statement preparation, reconciliations, and ongoing accounting support.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end closing and key accounting-related activities for clients, ensuring accurate and timely circulation of:
  • Internal and external monthly financial statements
  • Annual audits and annual budgets
• Manage cash flow projections (and updates) and communicate cash position to clients
• Create monthly financial packages, including:
  • Proper margin recognition
  • Reconcile and record transactions (e.g., Sales, Deferrals, Accruals, Returns, Discounts, Write-offs)
  • Monitor Sales Orders (wholesale)
• Inventory management, including:
  • Understanding inventory
  • Reconciling inventory (Physical, Sub to GL)
  • Handling accruals, samples, inventory adjustments, and obsolescence
  • Monitoring purchase orders (POs)
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Reconcile other payment accounts (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, etc.)
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and maintain a thorough understanding of amortization schedules
• Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Manage AR aging reports for clients
  • Manage AP in Bill.com (or related software) for clients
• Support payroll management for clients
• Work with internal management to support the team
• Provide consulting support to clients on accounting-related work
• Own general ledger activities, financial analysis, financial reporting, and special reports
• Support financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in full cycle accounting
• 2+ years of experience in a multi-client or consulting role
• Advanced experience in QBO and Xero
• Strong Excel skills
• Firm grasp of accounting principles
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Proactive and team-centric attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with e-commerce (e.g., Shopify, PayPal, Bill.com, etc.)
