Overview
This role is for a Credit Analyst III, Specialty Lending position within the organization’s Credit Analyst group. The role involves independently underwriting complex credit requests across specialty lending sectors, including litigation financing, fund finance, leveraged lending, life settlements lending, and other specialized industries designated by the bank.
The position is senior-level and embedded within the Specialty Lending credit function. It requires strong analytical expertise and sound credit judgment due to atypical collateral, cash flow, and risk characteristics common to specialty lending transactions. The role also supports overall credit quality and risk management for the Specialty Lending Group by guiding junior analysts and periodically assisting with distinct projects.
Candidates may be considered for a higher-level position (Senior Credit Analyst) based on the depth and breadth of experience.
This role can be based remotely.

- Construct and monitor borrowing base calculations, advance rates, and collateral eligibility for asset-based facilities.
- Assess litigation finance-specific risk factors, including case merit, jurisdiction, counsel experience, and anticipated recovery timelines.

- Prepare comprehensive credit presentations and risk assessments for review by the Credit Manager, Portfolio Director of Specialty Lending, senior management, and loan committee.
- Evaluate complex financial structures, including multi-entity borrowers, special purpose vehicles, and participation or syndication arrangements common to specialty lending.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior credit staff on specialty underwriting techniques.
- Monitor industry, legal, and regulatory developments affecting specialty lending sectors and incorporate findings into credit analysis; ensure compliance with bank policy, regulatory requirements, and applicable banking laws.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 5–7+ years of progressive credit analysis experience required.
- Direct exposure to specialty, structured, asset-based, or non-traditional lending products (litigation finance, fund finance, leveraged lending, life settlements lending or similar) strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in commercial financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and credit structuring, with demonstrated ability to apply these skills to non-traditional collateral and repayment sources.
- Working knowledge of asset-based lending mechanics, including borrowing base construction, advance rates, eligible collateral criteria, and UCC lien priority; familiarity with accounts receivable financing concepts such as dilution, debtor concentration, and account debtor creditworthiness.
- Understanding of litigation finance fundamentals, including case merit evaluation, counsel and case-management track record, jurisdictional risk, and expected settlement/verdict timelines.
- Understanding of lender financing fundamentals, including loan-to-value/loan-to-cost analysis.
