Overview

This position supports the Technical Accounting team within the CFO Advisory practice. The role is remote, but remote employees may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

The team works with the office of the CFO function across startups to middle market and upper middle market companies, helping CFOs navigate strategic, operational, and accounting challenges. Support includes preparation for public or private transactions, along with pre- and post-transaction assistance in coordination with the M&A group.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions, including:
    • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements
  • Maintain the general ledger and prepare month-end closes and year-end closes
  • Help direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Ensure accuracy and effectiveness across accounting tasks; suggest improvements to efficiency and spending; produce error-free accounting reports and present results
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budgets; verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivables
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns; direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies; strengthen internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Relevant certification (CMA or CPA) is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting and finance functions and processes
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), including understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes such as cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact in a highly professional manner at all levels

  • Highly driven and self-motivated with a hands-on approach to ensure deliverables are produced on time with high quality
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • Ability to work flexible hours in support of the business
  • SAP experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certification (CMA or CPA)
  • SAP experience

Compensation & Benefits

In California, the salary range for an Advisory Senior Associate is $90,000 to $145,000.

Location
