Overview

The organization is seeking a senior investment leader to guide the long-term strategic direction of its investment platform across model portfolios, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and a mutual fund. This role leads the investment team and investment process, collaborates on the development and evolution of investment strategies, and helps ensure investment capabilities remain aligned with market trends, advisor needs, and growth objectives.

In addition to internal leadership, the role serves as a key external investment voice—communicating market dynamics, portfolio strategy, and investment philosophy to advisors, partners, and industry audiences.

This position is subject to an SEC compliance program, which may include monitoring personal securities transactions, restrictions on outside business activities, and other oversight and restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the investment process across investment strategies, including performance review, portfolio oversight, adherence to investment objectives, and collaboration with teams responsible for implementation and trading.
  • Lead the strategic evolution of the investment platform by evaluating market needs, advisor demand, portfolio construction opportunities, and potential enhancements or additions across model portfolios, ETFs, mutual funds, and other investment capabilities.
  • Partner with organization leadership to align investment strategy, product direction, and team priorities with long-term growth objectives.
  • Lead the investment team by setting priorities, guiding research, developing talent, overseeing investment communications, and ensuring key projects are executed effectively.
  • Partner with distribution and strategic relationships to explain investment philosophy, strategies, benefits, risks, and portfolio applications.
  • Serve as a senior investment resource for advisors, partners, and internal teams regarding strategies, market views, portfolio positioning, and performance.
  • Act as a primary external investment voice by presenting at meetings, conferences, webinars, and other events.
  • Ensure investment activities, communications, and governance practices align with applicable compliance requirements and internal policies.
  • Monitor market trends, portfolio construction trends, advisor needs, competitive dynamics, and product developments to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Take a hands-on, collaborative approach appropriate for a growing investment organization, contributing directly to key initiatives when needed.
  • Reinforce commitment to internal controls processes, including those under Model Audit Rule and Record Information Management.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by the Attendance and Punctuality policy to meet business service levels and workflow demands.
  • Participate in other initiatives and/or projects as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • 10–15 years’ experience in investment management, portfolio management, investment research, asset allocation, or investment strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience publicly discussing markets, portfolio strategy, and investment concepts with advisors, clients, partners, or industry audiences.
  • Experience developing or leading investment communications, including market commentary, presentations, blogs, white papers, advisor education, or other thought leadership.
  • Ability to clearly present investment recommendations, strategy changes, and business rationale to senior leaders, committees, advisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience leading, managing, or developing investment professionals and/or leading cross-functional investment initiatives.
  • Experience with multiple investment vehicles, including model portfolios, ETFs, mutual funds, or other registered investment products.
  • Comfortable operating in a small, collaborative organization where senior leaders are expected to be strategic and hands-on.
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into operational reality by aligning communication, accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize competing initiatives and deliver results in a growing, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong investment judgment and decision-making skills, including balancing risk, opportunity, business needs, and fiduciary responsibility.
  • Willingness to travel 20% as required.
