Overview
This role supports a growing, family-owned organization serving small-business clients across multiple industries. The team is seeking a candidate with strong controllership/accounting experience in a CPG environment for small business, along with demonstrated management, technology, and organizational skills.
This position is 100% virtual/remote.
Responsibilities
- Own month-end close, including inventory and COGS accuracy
- Perform general and special accounting activities, including compliance such as Sales Tax/multi state
- Manage and support inventory accounting, including raw materials, WIP, finished goods
- Support and oversee inventory reconciliations and cycle counts
- Analyze margins, cost drivers, and production variances
- Collaborate closely with operations, purchasing, and production teams
- Develop and improve processes
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and multi-team oversight
- Use Excel to support costing and data analysis
Requirements
Accounting Experience
- 7+ years of graduated experience in small business accounting operations across multiple industries and company types/sizes
- Strong understanding and application of general accounting principles
- Inventory + e-commerce experience (management and accounting)
- Compliance experience, including Sales Tax/multi state
Manufacturing/CPG Specific Experience
- Strong inventory accounting (raw materials, WIP, finished goods)
- Deep cost accounting experience, including standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis
- Experience with BOMs and production costing
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Enterprise (required)
- Experience with other ERPs (NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics or similar) is preferred
Management Experience
- Leadership and mentoring experience
- Experience with multi-team oversight and management
- Process development
- Decision-making experience
Technology / Application / Integration Experience
Strong preference for experience in one or more of the following:
- QuickBooks; Xero; Zoho; R365
- Sage / Intacct
- NetSuite or other ERP systems
- Dext; Expensify; Bill.com; Veem; Hubdoc
- Amazon; Shopify; WooCommerce, etc.
- Avalara; TaxJar, etc.
- Google Workspace
- Sharefile, OneDrive, Dropbox, Sharepoint, etc.
General Job Skills Required

Preferred Qualifications
- Specialties within accounting (unspecified)
- CPA candidate is a plus
- Experience with multiple listed software/tools and integrations is preferred
