Overview

This role is for an Investment Operations Analyst to join the Separate Account Operations team. The position independently performs procedures, analysis, and report preparation to support the department and other internal service areas by answering questions about proprietary and non-proprietary investments. You will detect and resolve advanced problems with minimal guidance and support investment administration across multiple operational and compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Independently complete transactions and resolve issues across recordkeeping, accounting, trade platform, and/or pricing systems with minimal mentorship.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for daily operational tasks.
  • Build new investments and follow compliance rules to ensure readiness for trading, reconciliation, settlement, client reporting, and/or pricing processes.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to client data, trade breaks, reconciliation breaks, and/or compliance breaches.
  • Prepare reports and retain controls aligned with internal policies and client needs.
  • Participate in projects and progress toward taking on lead responsibilities.
  • Recommend, research, test, document, and move toward becoming a lead on system changes.
  • Work with internal and external parties (including senior operations staff, administration, mutual fund companies, IT, banks, broker-dealers, custodians, sub-advisors, outside vendors, regulatory agencies, and industry contracts) to educate, provide direction, gather information, and address issues.
  • Provide training to team members and act as the first point of contact for inquiries.
  • Demonstrate expertise in technical functions, research and issue resolution, independent decision-making, and effective communication.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting, finance, or economics experience (or equivalent), demonstrated through one or a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Basic PC and/or system skills required.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Strong client service orientation; ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely information with minimal direction.
  • Ability to handle multiple, increasingly complex tasks; prioritize effectively; and remain flexible as business needs change.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Solid analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, time management, planning, decision-making, and communication skills required.
  • Experience with investment/mutual fund operations or a related field desired.
  • Knowledge of finance and investment terminology helpful.
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, and/or Power BI and willingness to use AI as preferred capabilities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $55,800 - $100,800 / year
  • Non-sales positions may participate in a bonus program. Sales positions may be eligible for sales incentives and, in some instances, a bonus plan.
  • Actual compensation will be based on geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements, and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
  • Non-exempt/exempt note: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly).

Location-based salary examples

  • Wichita, KS: $55,800 - $75,600 / year
  • Des Moines, IA: $58,900 - $79,800 / year
  • Charlotte, NC: $62,000 - $84,000 / year
  • Chicago/Minneapolis: $68,200 - $92,400 / year
  • Los Angeles/New York City: $74,400 - $100,800 / year

Time off program

  • Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal time, or short-term illness.
  • Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Pension eligible

  • Yes

Work Environment

  • In-office hybrid work arrangement and fully remote options, depending on the candidate.
  • Hybrid requires a blend of at least three office days in a typical workweek and only if residing within 30 miles from Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC.
  • The preferred option is determined with your leader based on several factors.
